昨天美國一個關於機車的電視節目"Two-wheel Tuesday", 專訪Michael
Jordan, 談到他接觸機車運動的過程及未來發展的方向.

Jordan在12歲時騎上他第一台車,Honda 60cc的minibike. 他跟他的哥哥
一起share一起跑. 直到有一天摔車受傷後,他的父母就把車賣了, 自此
Jordan潛心籃球運動, 再也沒有接觸過機車. 一直到公牛隊贏得NBA總冠軍,
他們送給當時教練Phil Jackson一台Harley, 才重新喚起Jordan對機車的興趣.
由於NBA合約限制, Jordan一直到退休之後才得以開始騎車. 一開始他買了
BMW1200LT及另外兩台cruiser. 不過熟悉了騎車感覺後, JOrdan覺得不過癮
去換上Ducati 998, 越玩越入迷.
Jordan看來一開始也是台客一族, 穿了T-shirt牛仔褲就出去騎. 後來與
Montez Stewart相識(現在Jordan贊助跑AMA的選手). Montez提供許多騎車觀念,
也開始介紹賽車運動. Jordan開始添購人身部品,跑track,參加riding school
漸漸成為也更投入的騎士.
談到riding school上課, 我特別激賞Jordan講的一些話
"....I needed to get into a class and learn the fundamentals. It's no
different that having to learn the fundamentals of basketball. If you don't
know the fundamentals of basketball, then you can't play. You think you can.
A street player always thinks he can play until he gets in there with me or
someone else."
"My competitive nature tells me I can figure this out on my own. But then,
you have to be patient. You have to listen. You don't perfect this
profession, and if you go out there thinking that you do, that's when the
mistakes happen. So, you have to bring your ego down a little bit...."
另外Jordan也談到他心態的調適, 他在NBA拿了六次冠軍,運動天份無人能否認.
"..I came from a sport where I won six championships, and I was the top of
the world -- the best at what I did. Now, I'm not. So, if you don't listen
to the advice these guys are going to give you, you're going to kill yourself
out there. My ego is not that big. I want to enjoy it. I don't want to get
hurt...."
我很高興看到這些觀念由全世界頂尖的運動員之一,Jordan本人提出來分享. 其實
從事任何運動最重要的就是基本動作及觀念. 我經常看到不少台灣同學來美國接觸新
運動時,自認運動細胞好,不願意從基礎課程開始,而自己硬著頭皮亂幹,洋洋得意,
其實事倍功半,畫地自限. 機車騎乘也是如此,每當有友人詢問騎車事宜,我都推薦
本地MSF騎乘課程, 即使友人有數年經驗, 回頭複習基本觀念,重新檢視個人動作也
是很有幫助. 如果再要更加精進,track day/riding school都是非常適合的途徑.
最後Jordan談到他在AMA racing的贊助參與將會逐漸擴大, 看來他對機車運動
真的是興致勃勃. 今年MotoGP Valencia站他也有可能會出現. 想必熱衷籃球的
西班牙應該會掀起轟動吧.
