SL機油標準，比SJ更省油、降低廢氣污染、減少高溫產生的油泥沈澱、
減緩機油氧化速度，使機油更耐用...

API Introduces New Passenger Car Engine Oil Category
WASHINGTON, July 13 -API's Engine Oil Licensing and Certification
System (EOLCS)has introduced the next passenger car engine oil service category
, API SL. EOLCS also has adopted ILSAC GF-3, the latest minimum performance
standard issued by the International Lubricant Standardization and Approval
Committee. ILSAC GF-3 is a cooperative standard developed by General Motors,
Ford, DaimlerChrysler, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association and the
Engine Manufacturers Association.
Together, ILSAC GF-3 and API SL represent the latest development in the ever-
changing world of passenger car and diesel engine oils. GF-3/SL engine oils are
intended to provide improved fuel economy and emission system protection,
better control of high-temperature deposits, and lower oil oxidation. Motorists
can expect to find ILSAC GF-3 and API SL recommended in 2001 vehicle owners
manuals.
EOLCS is a voluntary licensing and certification program that authorizes engine
oil marketers who meet specified requirements to use the API Quality Marks-the
API Certification Mark "Starburst" and API Service Symbol "Donut."
Launched in 1993, EOLCS is a cooperative effort between the oil and additive
industries and vehicle and engine manufacturers. The performance requirements
and test methods are established by vehicle and engine manufacturers along with
technical societies and trade associations like SAE, ASTM and the American
Chemistry Council.
EOLCS is backed by an on-going monitoring and enforcement program that
ensures licensees adhere to program requirements. This includes running physical
, chemical and performance tests on licensed engine oils and verifying that
the API Marks are properly displayed on containers and convey accurate
information to consumers. Nearly half of the program's 550 licensees are based
in the United States, and the other half are spread among 46 countries. About
5,500 engine oil products display the API Marks. For information, contact API's

記得之前有在"石油情報網站"看到有關 SL 機油標準
其實是為ㄌ因應 ILSAC GF-3 而生ㄉ新標準
而 ILSAC GF-3 就是為"燃油經濟效益持續性"而出現的新標準!!
