Xbox 360 1080p upgrade
Microsoft reveals that one of PS3's unique selling points,
won't so unique soon.
Microsoft has announced at the Tokyo Game Show that the Xbox 360
autumn dashboard update will include the functionality to display
games and video content in 1080p resolution.
Previously the Xbox 360 could only handle 480o, 720p and
1080i high definition resolutions.
Microsoft announced pricing and availability details for the
Xbox 360 HD DVD Player in Japan. The accessory will
launch on 17th November, 2006, priced at ￥19,800 (approx ￡90),
and will come with an Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote.
"Xbox 360 and the HD DVD Player together deliver the most
powerful and affordable games and movie system for Japanese consumers,
" MS exec Peter Moore said. "The freedom to choose their entertainment
experiences is extremely important for consumers as they enter
the next generation."
At the moment there's not a lot of information about this feature.
But the announcement is sure to put the cat among the pigeons.
