Foundation
Developed FJ1300 - the entry formula category - engine code - named MF318 from
the mass-production Honda Civic 1.3-liter engine.
1974
Commenced sales of the MF318. The engine won the debut race, highly ranked in
the season's standing.
1975
Commenced sales of parts for racing Civic sedans (MS-I and MS-U) Commenced
sales of automotive accessory parts.
1976
Developed Mugen ME125 and ME250, the motorcycles. Participated in Japanese
Motocross Championship. ME250 won the Japanese Grand Prix - the final round of
the season - with the rider Hideki Suzuki. Since this year, Mugen has
participated in the championship for 16 consecutive years.
Mugen Civic won the Indonesian Grand Prix.
1977
Commenced sales of power - increase Kits for Honda CR125R and CR250R.
Commenced sales of Mugen motocross motorcycles of ME125 and ME250 (complete
vehicles). ME125 won the third round of Japanese Motocross Championship.
MF318 completely dominated the FJ1300 Series by winning seven races out of
seven with the driver Satoru Nakajima.
1978
ME360 won the Belgium Motocross Championship.
ME125 won the West German and the Philippines Motocross Championships.
1979
Established Mugen U.S.A. in the State of Calfornia.
Commenced sales of power-increase Kit for Honda CR125RZ.
1980
The 1980 ME125W I, factory - prepared motocross model, made its debut.
Johnny O'Mara won the U.S. Grand Prix of the world GP Motocross Series.
The Kart which was equipped with the ME125W I engine won four races in the
Japanese Kart Championship. Commenced sales of power-increase Kits (Baja
Commander) for Honda XR500 and XL500.
1981
ME125W-U, the 1981 version of factory-prepared motocross motorcycle, made its
debut. With a 400PS engine dynamo-meter installed to factory, the company was
fully prepared to participate in Formula Two.
By collaborating with Honda, Mugen began development of new V-6 2.0-liter
racing engines for F-2.
The Japanese F-2 engine won the title of the year's Japanese F-2 Championship.
1982
Developed 100cc rotary-valve Kart engine.
Purchased an NC machine which allowed production of large-displacement
four-stroke engines.
Sold racing Kit for Super Civic Single-model Race.
Defended the Japanese F-2 Championship title.
1983
Developed Honda City Turbo racing version.
Defended the Japanese F-2 title two years in row.
1984
Commenced sales of aluminum alloy wheels for Honda automobiles.
Also commenced sales of body modification, power increase and suspension kits
for Honda CR-X. In addition to the sales in Japan, those kits were avai-lable
in the U.S. through Honda dealers. Developed racing parts for N-1Civic.
First participation in Suzuka Eight-hour Endurance Race with Mugen's own
"White Bull", which was developed from Honda CBX750.
1985
Commenced development and test of the Formula One engine by collaborating with
Honda.
Cmmenced sales of body kits for Honda Quint Integra and Prelude.
The CR-X participated in the U.S.SCCA GT-4 class through the cooperation with
American Honda Inc. It won the championship.
1986
Defended the U.S. SCCA GT-4 class title. Mugen-Prepared Acura Integra
participated in IMSA, winning the class championship.
1987
Defended the IMSA champion.
Won the U.S. SCCA GT-4 class title for three consecutive yaers.
Participated in the Japanese F3000 Championship with Mugen MF308 engine.
Won the Series title (class3) in the Japanese Group A Touring Car
Championship.
Since this year, Mugen Civic has won the title for five consecutive seasons.
Participated in the Japanese F3 Championship with Mugen MF204 engine,
winning the Constructor's Championship.
1989
Double Constructor's Champion in the Japanese F3000 and F3.
Participated in the European F3 Championship with MF204.
Participated in the European F3000 Championship with MF308 and won the
championship with driver Jean Alesi.
Supplied MH251 (250cc two-stroke engine) for "Kaihien", a Hovercraft made by
Mitsubishi Nagasaki Machinery Mfg. Co. Ltd.
1990
Won the Japanese F3000 Constructor's Championship.
Won the Japanese F3 Constructor's Championship.
1991
Won the Japanese F3000 Constructor's Championship.
Won the Japanese F3 Constructor's Championship.
Terminated development, manufacture of the motorcycles and motorcycle race
activities.
1992
Participating in Formula One Grand Prix with MF351H V10 engine. For Footwork

1993
The Civic Ferio participated in All Japan Touring Car Championship.
1994
Supply MF351H-C V10 F1 engine to team Lotus.
1995
Supply MF301H V10 F1 engine to Ligier Sports S.A.
1996
First win at F1 MONACO GP with Ligier.
1997
Supply MF301 HB V10 F1 engine to Prost GP.
1998
Supply MF301 HC V10 F1 engine to Jordan GP.
Mugen won 1st & 2nd place at F1 Round 13 BELGIUM GP.
